About Us
American Legion Post 239 is a 501(c)19 veterans organization committed to mentoring youth, providing scholastic achievement, advocating patriotism throughout the community, assisting those in need and providing continued support of our fellow active duty service personnel and veterans.
Specific activities have included: providing bicycles to homeless veterans; helping veterans in need; contributing to the New Jersey Veterans Homes; sending care packages to military overseas; sending students to Boy’s and Girl's State programs; conducting national patriotic coloring contests; conducting safety essay contests; providing several annual scholastic awards to intermediate school 8th graders; awarding scholarships to local high school boys and girls; supporting eagle scout projects; and contributing to a variety of other local, state and national charitable and disaster relief efforts.
To provide these charitable endeavors, our members conduct varies fundraising programs. We take donations for poppies while in front of local business establishments, hold an annual golf outing, conduct a NJ approved annual raffle, participate in a variety of local events such as the Strawberry Fest, Apple Fest and Pumpkin Run, sell a variety of Veteran related merchandise, and manage our own investments portfolio.
